About Me – A Journey Through Language, Culture & Connection
Hello and welcome! My name is Clare, and I’m an English teacher with a deep passion for language, culture, and human connection. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and an Advanced Level 5 Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. My teaching is rooted in empathy, creativity, and a lifelong curiosity about the world and how we communicate within it.
Before becoming a teacher, I worked in international development as a volunteer, where I gained hands-on experience collaborating across cultures and supporting community-led learning. I’ve also travelled extensively across the globe, with meaningful time spent in places such as the Middle East, Tibet, China, Nepal, Ethiopia, and Kenya. These journeys have helped shape not only my understanding of language but also my appreciation of identity, tradition, and shared stories.
Outside the classroom, I’m also a passionate artist and painter, inspired by the colours, patterns, and stories found in the many cultures I’ve experienced. I often bring this love of fine art into my teaching—using visual thinking, creativity, and artistic expression to help students connect more deeply with English in imaginative ways.
I bring technical confidence and creative tools into the online classroom—ensuring smooth, engaging lessons whether we’re using interactive whiteboards, multimedia resources, or digital collaboration tools like Zoom and Miro.
My mission as a teacher is simple: to put students at the heart of their learning. Every lesson I create is based on your goals, interests, and personal rhythm. Whether you want to build confidence in speaking, improve grammar, or explore English through art and storytelling, I’m here to guide you with clarity, patience, and enthusiasm.
Let’s explore language together—creatively and with confidence.
